Widowed Women & Refugee Camp Support: KENYA

The widowed women and Kakuma refugee camp residents are in desperate need to earn an income to provide for their families in the absence of family and spouses. With our partner Fidele, we have been able to provide cash and travel assistance to help support small business ventures for these women. Khot (pictured above) receives regular monthly funding to sustain her small vegetation business. Khot wakes early and visits nearby farms to buy and sell vegetation at her stand in the community of West Turkana, Kenya. This business brings much needed income to Khot and her children, but also brings food to her community that they would otherwise not have due to lack of transportation to neighboring farms and communities.

Back-to-School Program-Ghana

There is a demonstrable need for education in Ghana, both to give children a way up and to provide exponential employment and vocational training opportunities for adults. Financial struggles, household responsibilities, and transportation are all obstacles when receiving an education in many parts of the world, and with the help of our partner Philip, we are helping community members overcome these obstacles.

Renda School for Girls

In Kisii, one of the largest slums in Kenya, the construction of Renda School for Girls is officially underway. The school will soon be a beautiful structure that will provide secondary education to 80 girls from Kisii & Kibera, with a long-term goal of eventually becoming a boarding house. Members of the Kisii community have been instrumental in seeing this project flourish, from making thousands of bricks by hand, to the official breaking ground by digging trenches so construction can begin. Mission & Movement tapped into the passion and values of several of our donors and the local Kisii community to ensure the school is constructed and ready for the next school year.
